Naomi and Judith’s visit to Nepal

5 October, 2014 by Web Admin

108Article from the Free Presbyterian Church Mission website. Original article can be found by clicking here.

In the month of August two young women, Naomi Hanna from Mourne Church and Judith Crow from Lisburn Church, visited the Precious Orphanage in Nepal, run by Paul and Mandira Thapa. They helped in various ways and their work was greatly appreciated by all in the home. They certainly were a good advert for our young people in Northern Ireland. After their return home they organised a fund raising event in the Lisburn Church Hall to help with the erection of the new orphanage building. The efforts of Naomi and Judith in this matter deserve the highest commendation. Below is a report from Naomi of the trip to Nepal. Photos of the children can be seen by clicking here.

This summer Judith Crow and I had the great opportunity of visiting Precious Orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal, as well as seeing some of the Free Presbyterian works there. Arriving into Kathmandu on the Saturday 2nd August, I was warmly greeted at the airport by Rev Paul Thapa and his son Isaac. When I got to the orphanage I was welcomed by many smiling faces and very excited children. Immediately I was made to feel at home with this rather large family! I was able to spend 2 weeks with the children and Judith joined me half way through, coming from her medical elective in Western Nepal. Our main work was running English and art activities during the day as well as taking devotions at night. I was greatly encouraged by the wealth of knowledge that the children had of the Scriptures and their eagerness to learn new gospel songs. As a special treat, we were able to take the children to the Kathmandu Fun Park and Zoo. It can safely be said that a great day was had by all!

It was a great encouragement for us to worship in the Free Presbyterian Church in Nepal on the Sabbath and meet the congregation there. We had the opportunity to help with the Children’s church and meet some of the Christian young people involved in that work. From first hearing of the church in Nepal and Precious Orphanage we have always been interested in keeping up-to-date with the work and it has been in our thoughts and prayers. Being able to see the work first hand and experiencing the day to day routine in the orphanage really was a true blessing and it is amazing to see God’s hand in the building up of His Church in the beautiful land of Nepal.

Noah Movie

18 April, 2014 by Web Admin

There has been some hype and media interest in the new blockbuster film called “NOAH,” which has just been released in the United States and United Kingdom.  The movie is based partly on the Biblical account of Noah’s Flood as it is found in the Book of Genesis.  Most Evangelical Christians see the film as a perversion of the Scriptural record, while some liberal Christians feel it may cause people to read the Bible for themselves and as such they have given the film their blessing.

However, it matters little how you view the film called “NOAH” because we have a clear and accurate account of the Flood of Noah contained in the Bible.  From Scripture we are able to present the true record of the Global Flood in Noah’s day and the true reason why such a flood was sent by God.  The Lord Jesus Christ believed the Old Testament historical account of the Flood and likened the days of Noah to the days preceding His second coming (Matthew 24:36-39).

Rev Thomas Martin has preached on this subject at length and the link below will give you access to that message.  We trust you will be blessed by what you hear.”
